Position Summary

Source-Ray, Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Sales Manager to drive the growth of our OEM X-ray generator and X-ray source business. This role is responsible for identifying new OEM opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding Source-Ray's presence in medical, industrial, scientific, security, and analytical imaging markets.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable engaging with both business and engineering stakeholders. They will work closely with prospective customers to understand application requirements and collaborate with Source-Ray's engineering team to develop technical solutions that align with customer objectives.

Unlike a traditional account management role, this position is primarily focused on generating new business opportunities and converting them into long-term OEM partnerships. Once a customer relationship is established, the Sales Manager will remain the primary point of contact and will be responsible for supporting ongoing production programs, repeat orders, forecasting, and future growth opportunities.

This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of advanced X-ray technology, engineering collaboration, and strategic business development.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify, qualify, and develop new OEM business opportunities for Source-Ray's X-ray generators, X-ray sources, and imaging subsystems

  • Build relationships with engineering teams, project managers, purchasing departments, and executive decision-makers within target OEM accounts

  • Lead technical and commercial discussions throughout the sales cycle, from initial customer engagement through production release

  • Work closely with Source-Ray engineering teams to translate customer requirements into practical and cost-effective technical solutions

  • Coordinate customer evaluations, prototype programs, design reviews, and product integration activities

  • Develop and deliver technical presentations, product demonstrations, and application-specific proposals

  • Prepare quotations, commercial proposals, and long-term supply agreements

  • Negotiate commercial terms and assist in closing new business opportunities

  • Maintain ownership of customer relationships following project award, supporting repeat orders, program expansions, forecast reviews, engineering changes, and contract renewals

  • Act as the primary liaison between customers and internal departments to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction

  • Represent Source-Ray at industry trade shows, conferences, and customer meetings to generate new business opportunities

  • Maintain an active sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting, opportunity tracking, and market intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitive developments to identify new growth opportunities and strategic markets

  • Achieve annual sales and business development objectives for bookings, revenue growth, and new customer acquisition

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, Business, Marketing, or a related field preferred

  • Demonstrated success in technical sales, business development, or account management within a B2B environment

  • Ability to understand customer applications and communicate effectively with engineering teams

  • Strong written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to independently develop new business opportunities

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects and customer opportunities simultaneously

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

  • Ability to develop trusted relationships with both technical and commercial stakeholders

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a consultative sales approach

  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required (approximately 25%–35%)

  • Authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of experience selling technical products, capital equipment, components, or OEM solutions

  • Experience within the X-ray, medical imaging, industrial inspection, NDT, analytical instrumentation, semiconductor, electronics, or related technology industries

  • Experience working directly with OEM customers and engineering teams throughout product development and integration cycles

  • Familiarity with X-ray generators, X-ray sources, high-voltage systems, imaging systems, detectors, or radiation-based technologies

  • Experience using CRM platforms such as Salesforce or similar systems

  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation

  • Understanding of FDA, ISO 13485, or regulated manufacturing environments is a plus

Physical & Work Requirements

  • Ability to perform work in office, manufacturing, laboratory, and customer environments

  • Frequent use of computers, telephones, and other standard business equipment

  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, video conference, and electronic communication platforms

  • Ability to occasionally lift and transport demonstration equipment, trade show materials, or product samples weighing up to 50 pounds with assistance when necessary

  • Ability to travel by automobile and commercial airline, including overnight and multi-day business trips

  • Visual capability sufficient to review technical documentation, engineering drawings, presentations, and electronic data

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, analyze complex situations, and develop practical solutions

  • Comfortable interacting with customers, suppliers, executives, engineers, and other stakeholders across a variety of organizational levels

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the development and improvement of new & existing portable x-ray systems and OEM x-ray source sub-systems that meet application, business, and customer requirements.
  • Apply principles of engineering and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to complex engineering challenges. Identify issues, achieve resolution, and resolve complex problems proactively.
  • Generate detailed fabrication drawings utilizing tolerance analysis. Apply knowledge of materials and manufacturing methods for medical devices.
  • Conduct formal design verification and validation testing per approved test protocols and document test reports in accordance with applicable development regulatory requirements & company procedures.
  • Collaborate with colleagues as needed to ensure designs are capable of meeting performance targets.
  • Organize, prepare, and present technical information in a clear, effective, and skillful way to the Director of R&D.
  • Submit change requests, review, and approve as needed for design, materials, and process documentation.
  • Ability to work with little direction toward predetermined goals.
  • Technical assistance is provided as needed to support regulatory, manufacturing, quality, marketing, and other Core Team needs. Effectively interacts with others to facilitate product development and support.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 5-10 years of relevant Experience.
  • Product development work experience with electromechanical devices. Class II or Class III medical device product development experience a plus.
  • Strong fundamental, theoretical, and applied knowledge related to general Mechanical Engineering.
  • Electromechanical packaging experience is required.
  • Proficiency in CAD. SolidWorks preferred.
  • Knowledge of design for fabrication methods including machining, casting, plastic injection molding, sheet metal and rapid prototype.
  • Knowledge of ISO, FDA, MDD and regulations applicable to the design and development of medical devices a plus.
